Barrie, ON – Dan Sawatsky of the Orillia Ball Hockey League, Jacques Panneton of the Kingston Power Play Centre and Brian Broley of ballhockey.com are pleased to announce that the Orillia Ball Hockey Club & Kingston Power Play Centre will become affiliated rink’s within the ballhockey.com family of outdoor facilities effective immediately. This alliance is an exciting opportunity to work together in the development of the outdoor sport in Ontario. Ballhockey.com currently operates four other facilities in Hamilton, Barrie, Brampton and Niagara. Brian Broley said “I am pleased to welcome Dan & Jacques into our group. They have been entrepreneurial leaders in the development of the game in Orillia and Kingston and have made major steps to grow our sport in their communities”. “They and their management teams have been very supportive of all efforts to grow tournament activity and exchange ideas”.
The Kingston Power Play centre, located on Gardiners Road in Kingston saw rapid growth in their youth programs this Spring and have developed a multi-sport facility centered on ball hockey. Jacques Panneton is excited to have the opportunity to grow relationships in the sport. “We are always pleased to get together with the other ball hockey operators in Ontario and look for ways to develop the sport”. “This affiliation with Dan & Brian is a great way for us to grow and we look forward to other’s joining us.”
The Orillia Ball Hockey League is located on Memorial Avenue in Orillia and has seen increased activity in women and co-ed ball hockey as they reached capacity at their facility this past year. “We have developed a very family oriented club in Orillia and have had a lot of new friendships develop in the community” indicated Dan Sawatsky. “This is a great sport that should be in the Olympics someday”. “I’m also pleased to work with Jacques, Brian and the other operators in the ballhockey.com network of rinks to grow this sport together as a team”.
Tom Roberts, who has been involved in the development of the sport for over 20 years and operates the Hamilton South Ball Hockey Club indicated “These additional affiliations are great for the sport. We all work to help others who take the initiative to get involved and Dan & Jacques are hard working and committed individuals who will be an asset to our group”. Mike Thompson – Regional Manager for Ball Hockey Ontario Inc. commented “We have had a great relationship with the Orillia club, exchanging contacts and equipment when needed, so this will be awesome”.
