Barrie, ON - Jim Ranahan is excited, terrified & thrilled all at once as he breaks ground on the newest outdoor ball hockey facility in Ontario. The Centre Wellington Ball Hockey Club has begun to take form with groundwork underway and an objective to get the paving completed before the snow flies. “This has been a 15 year dream for me and the level of excitement over finally getting in the ground is balanced with the fear of the unknown” indicated Jim Ranahan.
“We expect to have an active family oriented facility offering organized ball hockey in a safe outdoor environment starting in the Spring of 2012″. “I have watched the ballhockey.com growth since I was a supplier to a friend in Barrie in the 90′s. Brian Broley would be telling me about the sport and I was always planning that I would do it in my home town one day”. “This h
as been a five year project to get into the ground and we are very excited to be adding this to the sporting community here in Wellington County”.
The Centre Wellington Ball Hockey Club will be located at 7450 Wellington County Rd 18 in Elora On, and will be offering affordable outdoor ball hockey to the community with Men’s, Women’s and Co-Ed Adult leagues and active youth programs for children aged 4-17. Everybody in the family can play as we will offer various divisions to allow people to compete with players of similar skill levels. The club will require volunteer coaches and will be building a team of officials to manage the games, so if you have an interest in helping out or getting involved, get in touch with Jim at jim@thinkmachone.com or call him at 519.994.0500. The Centre Wellington Ball Hockey Club will be an affiliated club of ballhockey.com, joining Hamilton, Orillia, Kingston, St. Catharines, Brampton and Barrie in the ballhockey.com network of Ontario based rinks.
“We are very pleased to see Jim Ranahan getting his dream off the ground” indicated Brian Broley of ballhockey.com. This sport continues to grow rapidly and more facilities in the Province allows us to continue to develop the game at both the competitive and recreational levels. “A lot of the players at our other clubs are excited to have an opportunity to travel into the Waterloo area for tournaments beginning in 2012 and we are looking forward to supporting and assisting Jim with his facility” indicates Broley.
