Ballhockey.com is pleased to announce the launch of a new travelling league that will begin in 2012 with a 12 game regular season schedule played in June\July\August, followed by a best three of five semi final series in late August for the top four teams and a best four of seven final in September to the two finalists.
The winning team will receive a free entry to the Men’s “A” World Outdoor Ball Hockey Championships to be held in Barrie, Ontario October 5-7, 2012, the traditional ballhockey.com championship jackets and bragging rights as the best team in the Ontario outdoor game.
Currently, four teams will compete for the 2012 Championship with the Barrie Vipers, Niagara Saints, Hamilton Tigers and Brampton Warriors all taking the challenge.
Expansion is expected to be rapid and team entry will be accepted for the 2013 Summer League. Jacques Panneton from Kingston indicated “We are very excited to get this new league off the ground with the Men in 2012. We think this level of competitive participation has the potential to explode into many more communities as well as into women, co-ed and all the various age groups at a youth level”. “We expect to see other communities take the challenge in the future”.
Tom Roberts, a key organizer in the sport for over 20 years and the owner of the Hamilton franchise said “Brian has been preaching about getting this started for years & I am very excited to support a Hamilton team as one of the founding franchises from our club in Hamilton”.
