Barrie- MP Patrick Brown is excited to announce new additions to this year’s roster.
Joining the Hockey Night in Barrie family will be none other than NHL great and Hockey Hall of Famer Doug Gilmour. Doug played 23 seasons in the NHL for 7 NHL clubs including the St. Louis Blues, Calgary Flames and Toronto Maple Leafs. Gilmour holds the Toronto Maple Leafs record for most points in a season (127) and most assists in a season (95). Doug totalled 450 goals, 1414 points in 1474 regular season games. Gilmour is a Stanley Cup Champion, 2-time NHL All-Star, and recipient of the Frank J. Selke Trophy for best defensive forward. In 2011 Gilmour was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
“I remember growing up to Doug Gilmour’s playoff heroics for the Maple Leafs in 1993 and 1994. He will always be remembered for his killer instincts with the Leafs and of course his Stanley Cup with the Calgary Flames. He will be amazing addition to Hockey Night in Barrie line up,” said MP Brown
Also joining the lineup for his first time will be Tanner Pearson, Barrie Colt and member of Team Canada for the 2012 World Junior Hockey Championships. Tanner totalled 1 goal and 6 points in 6 games played, while representing his country. Tanner was selected 30th overall by the 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings.
“Tanner Pearson was a fan favourite as a Barrie Colt, made Canada proud as a World Junior and is now a proud member of the Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings family. We welcome Tanner to his first Hockey Night in Barrie appearance,” said MP Brown
Mike Zigomanis of the Toronto Maple Leafs will also be participating in this year’s charity game. Zigomanis was selected 46th overall by the Carolina Hurricanes. Mike has played for 4 NHL teams, posting his best season with the Phoenix Coyotes and winning a Stanley Cup Championship with the 2009 Pittsburgh Penguins. Mike was part of the Toronto Marlies Organization that reached the 2012 Calder Cup Finals. Mike is hoping for a big season next year with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
